Can I have my wedding at Bothal Church?

    To be legally married in a Church of England Parish Church either you or your fiancée has to have a so called Qualifying Connection with the parish. You have this connection with Bothal Church if either of you have any one of the following connections:

    •      were baptised at Bothal Church or

    •      had your confirmation in the Bothal and Pegswood Parish

    •      have at any time had your usual place of residence in the Bothal and Pegswood
    parish for at least 6 months; or

    •      have at any time habitually attended public worship at Bothal Church for at
    least 6 months;

    or either of your Parents has at any time during your lifetime:

    •      had his or her usual place of residence in the Bothal and Pegswood parish for at
    least 6 months; or

    •      habitually attended public worship at Bothal Church for at least 6 months;

    or

    •     you have a Parent or Grandparent who was married at Bothal Church.

    If both of you do not have any one of these connections then you can, if you wish, attend church regularly for at least six months in order to create a qualifying connection.
